Description

Jönköping could become the name of a 1925 km2 power plant in Sweden. The community in the southwest of Stockholm wants to become a plus-energy community by 2050. This means that by 2050 it will produce more energy than it consumes. The Swedes will present how this will work in their own climate week from 04 to 11 September 2019.

The European Environment Agency's latest report presents a wide range of threat scenarios facing the EU as a result of climate change. To cope with them, measures ranging from climate adaptation to energy reduction are urgently needed. The community of Jönköping will present it's best ideas and innovative approaches from abroad on it's climate week from 04 to 11 September 2019.

On the 5th of September the CLARITY-team will give a presentation on how cities can better adapt to the consequences of climate change, making infrastructure projects more secure. There will be an open workshop on climate change adaption, for which you can sign up here. The workshop will be held by the swedish national meteorological institute SMHI, consulting company WSP, Stockholm City and the County Administrative Board of Jönköping County. The target group is especially those who are currently working on adaptation issues at the municipal level, but everybody interested in society's adaptation to a changing climate is welcome.

The workshop will be held in the County Hospital, which will give a guided tour of measures taken in climate adaptation with emphasis on the experiences due to cloudburst in 2016. A second workshop follows with emphasis on the Swedish democases and with interactive discussions.
